Tim May – Town Council

Posted on June 9, 2021October 10, 2021

My name is Timothy May and I am running for re-election on the Montville Town Council. My
wife Bonnie and I have raised three children at our home of 22 years here in Montville. I came to
southeastern CT in 1984 when I enlisted in the U.S. Naval Submarine service serving on two
fast attack submarines. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil & Environmental
Engineering in 1997, from the University of Connecticut. I recently retired from Electric Boat as a
Principal Engineer. I am the Principal Engineer and owner of May Engineering,LLC. I currently
serve as the Chairman of the Town Council. I am also a lifetime member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, member of Submarine Veteran and American Legion. I chaired the Montville
Water & Sewer Commission for 8 years where we preserved rates with no increases. As your
Town Councilor, I am committed to bringing my experience and leadership to serve the town. I
can be trusted to make difficult decisions when difficult decisions need to be made. During my
term as Chairman on the Town council we decreased property taxes and lowered mill rates two
years in a row. We also adopted the Municipal Low Interest Rate Program to assist taxpayers
during the initial COVID-19 crisis. Along with negotiating and approving the 99 year lease for the
parking area south of Dock Road and the Town Dock at no cost. We also maintained critical
town services that served our seniors, youth and social services throughout the pandemic. As
your town Councilor, I will ensure that local government is open and responsive to the needs of
Montville residents. I will always advocate for the solutions that are best for our community.
